Daytona - Daytona Beach gained much of its fame for having beautiful beaches, in more ways than one. In fact, these particular beaches comprised a unique hardness which proved to be the perfect environment to test-drive cars. During the 1930s and 1940s most of the land speed records for automobiles were established in Daytona. Soon enough came the Daytona 500, one of racing’s most prestigious events.
